
Janata Vasahat is an impoverished slum, in Zone B of Pune City, community located on the slopes of Parvati, -a prominent hill in Pune crowned with an ancient temple. It is an extensive, sprawling community of shanties, inhabited mostly by migrants from drought-prone rural areas of Maharashtra and Karnataka states.
Parvati situated at a height of 2100 feet above sea level, is one of the most scenic locations in Pune. The temples on Parvati hill are the oldest heritage structures in Pune and reminiscent of the Peshwa dynasty. Placed at the highest point in Pune, it offers a beautiful panoramic aerial view of the city.
